Cafeteria Incentive Plan

Hey there! Today we thought we would share our cafeteria incentive plan with you.

As you all know, the cafeteria can be quite the problem area. The kids have very little time to eat and the noise level expectation can be a bit unrealistic at times. Now don't get us wrong, we would lose our minds if we had to be in there with all that noise. But we digress.

We have a school wide points system that our cafeteria supervisors are using.

Here's how it works:
Each day every class can earn up to 50 points for staying in their seats and being quiet during the 2 minute quiet time. The supervisors keep track of the class points on a large thermometer on the cafeteria wall and they give us a slip every day letting us know how  many points our classes earned.

Each week they announce the winning upper grade and lower grade classes. Then they are posted on the cafeteria weekly winners wall. The kids love listening to the announcements on Friday morning to hear who the
winners are.

To keep them motivated we have carried the points over into the classroom. We add the daily points on the board and when they get to 1000 points the whole class earns a homework pass! They REALLY LOVE earning a
homework pass!
Even if you don't do the points school wide, this could be a fun system that you could implement for just your own class.

What do you think? How would you modify it to work for you? We would love to hear your ideas.

  1. I love this idea! My school has no management plan for the cafeteria and it drives me nuts... maybe I will suggest this one!
