Assessments, Report Cards and Seuss Oh My!

Hi friends! We are not going to lie, the last 2 weeks have been CRAZY!!!! We have been giving assessments....

writing report cards....

and celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday with one Seusstastic Day!!!

And what fun would all that be if all 7 of our boys didn't get sick right in the middle of all of it? That's right, all seven took turns with the flu and ear infections!

Who needs two whole weeks to sit one on one with all 22 students to complete 3 different assessments, give a writing prompt, two math facts assessments, and write report cards anyway? Right?!?

Anyhow, we survived and even managed to pull off a super fun, Seusstastic Friday. Are you ready to hear about our fun?

We kicked off the fun with these super cute Thing 1 & Thing 2 hats from First Grade Blue Skies

Adorable, right?!?

Once they had their fancy new hair on, they came to the board meeting area and we read aloud Bartholomew and the Oobleck and of course had to try what oobleck tasted like. It's so funny how a little green food coloring in some vanilla pudding will trick the mind. They were so nervous to eat it. LOL

Then, we did a Dr. Seuss Watch, Think, Color. If you are not doing these you are missing out. Our kiddos LOVE them!!!!!

Next up, The Cat In The Hat and a Dr.Seuss research project. We gave our kiddos Dr. Seuss QR codes and the Dr. Seuss Scholastic News and had them work in groups to complete their research project. And what Dr. Seuss research project would be complete without a Cat In The Hat chocolate dipped marshmallow hat skewer?

We also played a Dr. Seuss Chutes and Ladder game, colored book marks, did a Mad Lib, a rhyming page and partner reading Dr. Seuss books.

Finally, we ended the day with a One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish listening center and of course one more fun treat.

We had such a great day! And as if that wasn't enough fun for one day, we stayed late at school and had a report card printing pizza party with a few other teachers and all our own kids. The exciting adventures of being a teacher's kid. We are so fortunate that they all get along and have so much fun together. We finally finished up at 7:00pm! Now we are ready to relax and enjoy the weekend.

Happy Saturday!!
